Just saw the Wyeth exhibit at the DAM—Andrew and Jamie in the Studio. Can’t put into words how good this show is! Overwhelming. Over 100 pieces to look at, father and son side by side, and lots of narrative to tie it all together. Pictured here is “The Oak” by Andrew Wyeth, done in watercolor. There are several more fabulous nature/botanical paintings by Wyeth the elder, most done in egg tempera, and to get up close and see the brush work is nothing short of a revelation. I’ll probably go several more times just to study this rare collection of works by the most talented and prolific families in the history of American art. Do not miss this!
