I was lucky enough to be part of a two-day workshop with Sarah Simblet, a fine artist, writer, broadcaster and anatomist, whose work explores the relationship between science, history and art. Sarah teaches anatomical drawing at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art at the University of Oxford. An extraordinary talent and gifted teacher, we spent most of the two days listening to her talk about the connections between drawing, writing, language and music. She had many examples of her work from “The New Sylva” with her and needless to say we were all blown away! Kudos to the School of Botanical Art for bringing such a huge creative talent to Denver. It always pays to seek out creative genius and hope that just a smudge will rub off on you. That’s exactly what happened! I’m still decompressing.
