It has been hot! Haven’t much felt like going anywhere, least of all driving, so I’ve started to draw plants growing in my yard. Wait, not the one on the left! That’s hemp (Cannabis sativa), an amazingly useful and productive plant (and not the kind that gets one high). Russian sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia) in the middle and bloody cranesbill (Geranium sanguineum) on the right. Both of these tough little plants love the heat and dryness of Colorado summers. I’m capturing them in graphite on tracing paper—from life. Hopefully they will eventually progress to finished plates.
